Ashlee Simpson: A Good Cook?

Ashlee Simpson is that much closer to being a regular person in my eyes, thanks to PEOPLE magazine. The singer turned Broadway star is apparently bonding and having lots of girl time with Jessica Simpson since she moved in with her big sister. "I'm happy to be home," she told PEOPLE. "Trying to take a few weeks off and just be normal. Got a new house that I'm looking forward to. I'm living with my sister right now. It's great. I'm definitely messier. But she's been a great big sister. She's definitely taken me under her wing and let me live in her house and invade it." A favorite activity? Ash says her sis is an amazing cook, and although Ashlee tries to help out, all she usually ends up doing is the green beans and the cake. Interesting meal there, Ashlee!! Good to know you're an average person who loves veggies and gooey cake!

AMA Fun And Games: Not For Some

Now, I must confess: I haven't watched the American Music Awards just yet. They're waiting for me on my precious DVR, but from what I've read (PEOPLE, anyone?), not everyone was happy and enjoying the evening. Poor Britney Spears had to endure a crude joke about estranged hubby, Kevin Federline. Just seconds before she took the stage to present an award, host Jimmy Kimmel packed a fake K-Fed up in a box and shipped him out to sea, calling him "the world's first ever no-hit wonder." Ouch! "Britney was blindsided and upset," says a source familiar with the situation. "Some (of Spears's associates) were with her, and they were pissed. They asked that it not be shown on the (West Coast) feed." Their request was sadly not granted. And then there's Mr. John Mayer, whose articulate "Uh, no," in response to questions about whether or not he's dating singer Jessica Simpson just cleared everything up for me. Our New Infatuation: Kellie Pickler

Isn't she the cutest thing? I just can't get enough of Ms. Kellie Pickler, the sixth-place finisher on last season's American Idol. I mean, you have to be on the right track when you come out with your debut album before the season's winner. For Pickler, that album is Small Town Girl, released last week. "I'm only 20, but I almost feel like an old woman," she tells PEOPLE. "I grew up fast." Indeed she did. Her mother left when Kel was 2 and her father's been in and out of jail - he was released in May. But her life is brighter since moving to Nashville.  "After my grandma passed away, my dreams were all I had," she says. "I lived to accomplish them." Go Kellie!!! We're rooting her you! Ladies & Gents: Say Hello To Mr. Mark Wahlberg

Hold the presses...Mark Wahlberg has gained the wisdom that comes with age and vowed to give up his bad boy ways, he recently told PEOPLE. Marky Mark, err, I mean Mark, is jumping into the big leagues with a role as a dirty-talking Boston cop in Martin Scorsese's new film The Departed, which also stars Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio. But off the movie set, he's another Average Joe. "Ten or 15 years ago, if you'd have told me that I'd be waking up at 5 in the morning to play golf instead of staying up till 5 (partying), I'd have laughed at you," the 35-year-old actor tells PEOPLE. "I'd have bet everything I had that you didn't know what you were talking about." He has two children with girlfriend-model Rhea Durham, Ella Rae, 3, and Michael, 6 months. Good for you, Mark. I was starting to wonder what happened to good old fashioned men. But I have to admit, I miss your hunky model days. Here's some pics...before and after the life-altering revelation.  

Mischa Barton Hearts England

Am I the only one who absolutely loooooves the "Loose Talk" section of US Weekly? Well, the whole magazine is like my Bible, but the quotes in LT always crack me up. Take for instance a recent quote from Mischa Barton on U'S's Web site. "People have no idea how truly English I am. What's English about me probably is 'the proper thing' and the way I dress." Now, that quote's all well and nice - and proper, of course - but then I see this picture of Barton. I don't know if that green little dress is more English or more 1960s. And those shoes look suspiciously like the Keds shoes you see her modeling in all those ads...clever. Mischa! But, I'm not the authority, so judge for yourself. I'm more fond of the last few pics myself.
