So Frédéric Rouzaud, the managing director of Louis Roderer Cristal, recently told The Economist that the attention the rap community has given his company was “unwanted.” He later added "I'm sure Dom Perignon or Krug would be delighted to have their business."
Rapper Jay Z, who is in many ways responsible for the Cristal craze and has featured it in his raps, videos and clubs for more than a decade, immediately issued a report saying he thought Rouzaurd’s comments were racist and that he was instituting a ban against the label.
And all this time I thought Jay and Beyonce were taking baths in the thousands of bottles Cristal shipped to them as a thanks for all their publicity. For the record, there is nothing, absolutely nothing, “unwanted” about Jay. There’s also nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with cheap champagne. Still want to blow your hard-earned money on a racist man's loot?
