A whole new kind of ‘bling’ for your smile

Veneers are totally the new grills. For the uninitiated, grills are one of the popular trends with many hip-hop and R&B artists is to get a snap-on "grill", typically made of gold or platinum and occasionally encrusted with diamonds or other gems worth tens of thousands of dollars, for their teeth.
According to the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, as the urban-hop community has adopted dental grills as the cool new "bling," many have experienced the fact that wearing these metal attachments can cause permanent damage to the wearer’s smile. It is common to experience everything from poor fit, bite problems, to irritated gums and decay underneath the crowns or "grill" contributing to bone loss and periodontal disease. So, the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry is starting to see a new trend emerge… a "new bling," says Dr. Richard Creasman. A number of wearers are realizing the disadvantages to grills and turning to a more natural-appearing alternative — a beautiful white smile and a chance to look just like Hilary Duff.

"We are now helping large a number of R&B artists and rappers that have come to have these same grills removed and replaced with beautiful new porcelain veneers ," says Dr. Creasman.

Star Reynolds to sue over divorce rumors?

Former talk-show host and lawyer Star Jones Reynolds has demolished reports her marriage to Al Reynolds is on the rocks, and is threatening legal action against those responsible for spreading the rumors. (We better watch out!)
Reynolds, who made headlines when she abruptly quit/ was fired from The View in June, is battling reports that appeared Wednesday in a New York City tabloid claiming her marriage is falling apart.
Her representative tells People that there is no truth to the divorce rumors.
"These categorically false stories and their continuation are clearly being generated by someone for vindictive reasons alone,” says her rep. The statement goes on to say that the couple's "legal representatives have been investigating the source and motivation of these boldfaced lies for some time now and are very close to exposing the individual who has perpetrated them. At which time, appropriate legal action will be taken."
Star and hubby Al married in 2004 in an elaborate, payola wedding that is said to have been a factor in her dismissal from The View. Source

Nelly Furtado says motherhood is sexy

Nelly Furtado, looking a lot like Sophia Loren, poses for a James Patrick Cooper photo shoot. Furtado, who is up for an MTV video award for her hit Promiscuous, recently told an Australian mag that childbirth and motherhood are what make her feel sexy. Furtado says giving birth to her three-year-old daughter Nevis was a turning point in her life.
"I had a lot of growing (to do)," the 27-year-old said. "I found myself evolving a lot as a person and as a woman. Becoming a mother gave me more confidence in myself, in life and going through lots of positive experiences. That's sexy to me. Becoming a mother, childbirth and being in control of your music and new sound is a natural progression really."

Ciara gets struck by a smooth crimminal

It was time for singer Ciara to bust out of her old image by breaking up with her boo Bow Wow and start singing more skanky, "adult" songs, but I'm beginning to wonder who is in charge of her fashion. Ciara, who is a multi-platinum selling recording artist sometime's called Ciara Princess Harris, whill headline the fourth annual VH1 Save the Music Hanptons Benefit (it's already been filmed but us lowly folk haven't gotten a chance to see it on TV yet.)
The VH1 Save The Music Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education in America's public schools by restoring music education programs that have been cut due to budget reductions or to save programs at risk of elimination due to lack of instruments.
"Music education is often the first subject cut when lawmakers start wielding the budget ax," said Reid, managing director of Westin Rinehart, a Washington, D.C. communications firm. "That is why my wife and I host this event each summer to purchase instruments so that all children have the opportunity to learn about music and showcase their natural talents."

Eminem practices a whole new kind of hit

Oh Eminem, you've really done it this time. According to E!, Eminem and his entourage were hanging at the Cheetah Club, a nudie bar located on Eight Mile Road, into the early hours of Thursday when a fight went down at approximately 1:15 a.m. The rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, was using the toilet when an unidentified man in the restroom began chatting him up, per local ABC affiliate WXYZ-TV. Long story short, Detroit police are now seeking the hip-hop superstar for questioning for his alleged role in a "beatdown." Silly rabbit.
